About RV Skier

How it all started

It all started back in 2006 when Kim's cousin Richard booked a trip to visit us in Oregon from the east coast.  We had talked up the skiing in the northwest and he banked his only ski vacation for the year on this trip.  Needless to say we were hell-bent on taking him to the best snow & terrain we could find.

As his arrival date drew near, I scoured the weather & lodging sites to find the best solution available.  It was spring break, Whistler was rediculiously expensive & the storms were lining up for Crystal Mountain perfectly - the only problem with Crystal is that lodging for the holiday week had been booked up for weeks..

Cruise America to the Rescue..

I had seen the RVs lined up in the Crystal lot before, so I called up Cruise America and worked out a winter-rate rv rental for the long weekend... two years later we had our own mobile ski base.

Our Rig

Most of the How-To type information on this site comes from our experiences & mishaps.  So it's usefull to know where we're coming from.

Our trailer is a 2008 Arctic Fox 27t by Northwood Manufacturing and Our tow vehicle is a 2007 Dodge 2500 4wd with a Cummins diesel.  Together we weigh in at about 15,000 pounds (haven't checked recently).  It's our first RV and we bought it specifically to use as our mobile ski chalet.

Our Trip

So, needless to say we think that skiing out of an RV is the best thing ever, you can follow the weather, ski in/ski out frequently and bring all the comforts of home with you.  We decided that we had to do this full-time.  After more than a year of planning & saving we've moved into the trailer, rented out our house and are traveling the west skiing.
