Where to stay

In Town:
Durring our stay at Fernie, we stayed downtown at the Snow Valley Motel & RV Park ($25/nightly).  It was super convienent to downtown bars and restraunts.  The had power, and one shared water tap that allowed us to refil our fresh water.

Slopeside:
We called Fernie Alpine Resort previous to our arrival, they said they do offer RV parking at the resort, but none was available.  When we got to the resort there were 6-8 empty spots with 30amp power.  So, I'm guessing that the person I got on the phone had no idea what they were talking about and it may just be best to show up, pull in and then try to find someone to pay.  The RV parking lot higher up the mountain lookers left.

Skiing

Resort:

Slackcountry:
Fishbowl is the most accessible out-of-bounds run.  It's in the adjacent alpine bowl skier's left of the resort boundry.  A high traverse will get you into it and a cat track at the bottom allows you to ride back into the resort.

Backcountry:
Tunnel Creek is the only somewhat accessible backcountry we found while in Fernie.  It's south of town (just past the tunnel on the right).  There's about a 2 mile climb on a logging road before you get to anything worth skiing.
